African American Historical Resources of the Eastern Shore

Delmarva Heritage Network

About this Site

This website is the creation of Linda Duyer, resident of Salisbury, Maryland.  This site was created as a resource, a kind of clearinghouse of information, to help direct those interested in finding more about the region’s rich African American Heritage.

The good news is that organizations and people throughout this region have been active in furthering this heritage through research, preservation and education.  The bad news is that often the activities and interests of one part of the region are not known to others in other parts of the region, or throughout the broader range of adjoining regions.  Yet while there is an amazing diversity of history throughout the region, there is also a commonality, linkages of places, people and similar experiences.  The resources available regarding this region help not only specific historical research but genealogical research as well.

But this is as much a creation for myself as it is for others, for as I learn more and more about the research, preservation and education occurring throughout Delmarva, I become more and more enthralled by this history.
